Tuesday Jun 29, 2021
Donald Trump Jr. joins the podcast for a robust conversation about the future of hunting, and a myriad of other current affairs.
Field Ethos JournalWe’re outdoor adventure seekers with hunting, fishing, travel and conservation at the center of our DNA. For too long mainstream media and corporations have defined the narratives of time in the field. Our Journal is changing that. We’re giving a voice to you: the nomads, sojourners, and the searchers. By delivering content from contributors worldwide, Field Ethos will tell the stories of the adventure minded – whether that’s travel to remote corners of the world or a trip to the woods outside of town.
Through rich content across platforms in print, online, film, social media and conversations on the Field Ethos podcast, we’re making you, our audience, the story tellers.
This is Field Ethos.
Donald Trump Jr.Founder
Most people see me as a businessman, a figure in the political world and a family man. While I certainly love all of these things I also felt the need to work on a passion project in the world of hunting, fishing and adventure.
Myself along with several friends launched Field Ethos Journal as a small business dedicated to telling the stories of time in the field. Our brand focuses on the things that truly matter to us: the places we go, the people we meet, the cultures we experience, the adventures that lie in wait for anyone willing to take a step into the unknown and the global successes of conservation that preserve all of these things for generations to come.
I hope you’ll follow along and even take part in what we’re doing. Life’s greatest adventures are ahead of us all.

Dayna Monroe: Sheepdog Response
Thursday Jun 24, 2021
Thursday Jun 24, 2021
Dayna Monroe recently completed her first course with Sheepdog Response. She joins the podcast to detail her experience.
Sheepdog Response
Sheepdog Response was founded by Green Beret, Special Forces, Sniper, and former top 5 UFC Middleweight, Tim Kennedy. Tim was also the co-star of Hunting Hitler on the History Channel, and more recently, Hard To Kill, on the Discovery Channel.
People face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. This weakness in the flock allows the wolves to attack with great ease and success.
The answer is not more laws. The wolves don’t follow them. We must give the good guys the tools they need to effectively respond to violence. The more Sheepdogs we can train to be truly ready to respond to a mass shooting, terrorist attack, violent mugging or home invasion, the better the chances are that the bad guys will get what they deserve and the good guys will survive. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it…
We have developed a curriculum that addresses the skills you need to successfully respond to threats.

Hiking late spring in the high country of Colorado can be a challenging mix of fast running stream crossings, post holing through snow, freezing temperatures at night, and t-shirt weather during the day. This makes gear selection a challenge. Aron, Frank, David, and Kevin Estella talk about their recent adventure (or misadventure into the backcountry) and what gear they brought, as well as what they would have changed based on the conditions.
Kevin Estella is a well versed outdoor survivalist/author and instructor at Fieldcraft Survival. If you are interested in training for preparedness, self defense, survival, or firearms be sure to check out:Fieldcraft Survival101 Skills You Need to Survive in the Woods

Clay Hayes - YouTube
From Alone:
CLAY HAYESSeason 8Age: 40
Hometown: Milton, FL
Profession: Professional Bowyer & Hunter
Clay Hayes has been a lifelong student of the woods. Growing up in the rural pine woods of northwest Florida, he honed the skills in hunting, fishing and trapping that would serve him for the rest of his life. He has always been drawn to hunter/gatherer cultures and the self-reliant lifestyle they embody. As a child in the Florida backwoods, he practiced the primitive skills he admired in those self-reliant cultures and dreamed of someday living a similar life in the Rocky Mountains.
Those childhood dreams eventually led him into a career as a wildlife biologist, where he got to work in some of the most remote and beautiful landscapes in the lower 48. But despite investing seven years of college and ten years in the job, his true passion was always primitive and traditional archery. In 2017, he left the biology career behind to focus on teaching primitive bow building and archery through online videos and in-person classes.
Since building his first successful bow in 1999, Clay has introduced tens of thousands of people to traditional and primitive archery through his books, magazine articles and online videos.
Clay lives with his wife Liz and two sons, Coye and Fen, on their homestead in North Idaho. Together they hunt, fish, forage and grow a large garden. Raising their two boys in close connection with the earth, with a practical understanding of nature and a sense of self-reliance, is important to both Clay and Liz.
Here are the ten items Clay selected to bring on his survival journey to Grizzly Mountain:
1. Sleeping bag
2. Pot
3. Axe
4. Saw
5. Multitool
6. Bow and arrows
7. Paracord
8. Fishing line and hooks
9. Snare wire
10. Ferro rods

Much needed info in this episode if you're planning on backpacking this summer and prepping gear for the season.
Why you should support the CBA.
Hunting and fishing are forms of outdoor recreation as are hiking, rock climbing, biking, and 4-wheeling. Not everyone however, participates in outdoor recreation activities but those that do are often passionate about their involvement.
Bowhunters can probably be characterized as one of the more passionate groups of outdoor enthusiasts. We dearly love the outdoors and the wild things that reside within it. We are a diverse and extended family who regards bow hunting as a perfect union of man and the natural world. Our love for bow hunting and the scenes that accompany the privilege can only be understood by those that relish the environs as deeply as we do. We are literally drawn to nature…autumn arriving like a golden chariot piercing the pure air and azure sky on contrails of yesterday’s dreams and tomorrow’s promises. Our treks into the tall grasses and deep forest quench an ancient urge that others cannot apprehend. Yet, defeating our quarry isn't nearly as important as having had the opportunity to be among them… having had the opportunity to be part of something greater than ourselves.
There are those however, that totally disregard our passion for the outdoors and are financially motivated to take those freedoms from us. Organizations like HSUS, PETA, and others are determined to destroy hunting starting with archers…and will go to any means to accomplish their goals.
If you bowhunt in Colorado and are not currently a member of the CBA ... please consider joining today. We need your support to protect the privilege so many enjoy. Here are some other reasons to join:
Six issues of The Colorado Bowhunter magazine every year
Drawing entries for free bows and other top prizes
Personal input to season structures and other state regulations
Special information mailings on CBA events and 3-D shoots
Personal identification as a valued member and conservationist
Access to future "members only" features on the CBA website

Mountain Primal Meat Co.

Tuesday May 18, 2021
Confidence is high you'll be hungry after this episode!
Mountain Primal Meat Co.
Our ranch did not start out with a desire to make money selling meat and provisions. It wasn't even a dream when we purchased the land. We had one thought: "Let's build something out of this." From that simple foundational idea we went from growing hay, to purchasing our first head of cattle, to finally developing the operation into a sustainable beef enterprise focused on quality and our animals' wellness.
We believe that we should continue our journey by not only pushing ourselves, but those we serve, towards personal greatness, whatever that looks like to the individual. We serve our employees and work to help them grow, learn, and become leaders so they can raise their families and pursue their goals with enthusiasm earned from their accomplishments at our company. We serve the organizations and people we sponsor by involving ourselves in their program in a way that ensures their continued success and growth while educating ourselves with lessons learned from their various pursuits.
Finally, we serve our customers. We want you to be inspired to blaze your own trail in life. By eating the food we bring to market and wearing the clothes we design, we want you to feel connected to an overarching theme that is gaining traction here in the United States. You may already feel it. It's that desire to put down the soul-sucking electronic distractions in our lives, peer out into the world we live in, and make something out of our thoughts, grit, and know-how.
You have but one chance to shape this world, shouldn't you leave your mark alongside your fellow modern pioneers?
We believe you should.
