I use to carry a field point in my quiver so after I shot my animal I would shoot another arrow with a field point in the ground or tree exactly where I shot the animal as a starting point for tracking.

This year I shot a bull hitting one lung and the liver and he only went 85 yards at a dead run downhill, so I would have to say that the liver is definitely deadly. Not that you'd want to try and hit it.

Good stuff. Haven’t been giving an opportunity for head on shot but if it’s under 30yds I’m sending it! Taken many of coyotes with the head shot.

Hey great episode. Just wanted to share that I hit a whitetail in the femural artery (probably nicked it, as apposed to your example where I imagine you severed it) and the deer lived a few hours, we tracked it over a mile, and finally jumped it once before it expired shortly after being jumped. Anyway, I wish mine had died quick like yours. It still gave consistent blood but lasted a while longer. Great podcast!
