judging a nonprofit by where they stand on issues that fall outside of their mission. They actually have a fiduciary responsibility to apply their resources toward the mission. If they strayed into other areas on the whims of the latest hot topic the board could be be in legal jeopardy if the donors pursued decide to pursue it. Nonprofits should really be judged based on how affective they are at achieving the recorded mission they filed with Uncle Sam to receive tax exempt status in the first place. The organization in question has become very affective towards their stated mission.
